Cocina Americana: Hamburgers
La hamburguesa es lo más icónico de la cocina americana, y tanto los amantes como los detractores de la cultura americana tienen fuertes opiniones sobre esta delicia de carne picada. Aquí tenemos un poco de historia:

The origins of the hamburger are still mysterious. The most probable story is that it was invented in Russia, popularized in Germany, and taken to the USA by German immigrants. It seems to have been popular at the beginning of the 20th century in various restaurants around the United States.
Americans certainly didn’t invent the hamburger, but they did popularize it around the world. Dick and Mac McDonald are mostly responsible, as they opened the first McDonald’s restaurant in San Bernardino, California in the year 1940.
What the McDonald brothers did was invent a process for making thousands of identical hamburgers quickly and cheaply. This allowed the hamburger to spread and become the global culinary icon it is today.
Home Burger Bar makes a great hamburger here in Madrid, they have various locations in Malasaña and Chueca. Take a look at their website homeburgerbar.com. For many, they are the best in Madrid.
Due to McDonalds franchising in every major city in the world, many people think that hamburgers are the only American food. It’s not true! Check out my article about pumpkin pie for another example of delicious American cuisine. More recipes are on the way.
